Scott Hodge
Scott is the owner of Addictive Cycles in Braselton, Ga. I frequent the shop and have become friends with him. For those of you who were at DSG, he was Tinker's mechanic.
Scott is a great guy and unbelievable person. He is always willing to help out anyone in need and is the first to turn down any assistance for himself. Scott does more for mountain bikers in Atlanta than anyone I have met. Unfortunately, Scott wrecked his motorcycle on the way home from work on Tuesday. He has fractured C5,C6, C7, 4 ribs and a couple thoracic vertebrae. He has no paralysis and was moved out of ICU yesterday. Fortunately, they are able to take the non operative approach to treatment, but he will be in a collar until January. Scott was up and moving pretty good when I saw him today. He is in good spirits and anxious to be discharged from the hospital. With his positive outlook and the help of his friends he should make good recovery. However, being a small business owner he is without health insurance and his medical bills are adding up quickly. Scott would never ask for help. So as a friend, I am asking for other mountain bikers to help a brother out. Namrita has set up a paypal donation http://namrita.blogspot.com/ Most of all, keep Hodge and his family in your thoughts and prayers. thanks for your time, Matt

Thanks for posting this Matt!
Hodge is about as good a person as you could ever hope to meet. Not a bad MTB'er either...if you saw him rocking his fixed gear at SSUSA this year, you'd agree. He has a long history of doing for others at the expense of his own interests. Here's a chance to help out a guy who has done so much for others. If any can help, please do as I can vouch that Hodge would just about jump off a cliff for a complete stranger if he thought it would help them. Thanks, Grant |

Scott helped me out at the Fool's Gold this year. When I got to feed station#3 they were out of water. I had sent dry mix up in my feed bag. Hodge fished a personal water out of his cooler so I could hydrate my drink. Talked to him at DSG too.
Hate to hear 'bout the crash. Someone else I know recently lost the use of his legs from one like that. But then Rick Harmon fractured multiple vertebrae down at West Point years ago--he was back on the bike real quick. I donate to these causes every time. Hang in there Hodge!

Scott is definitely one of those guys that just gives gives and gives and never expects anything back, or even takes it most of the time. It's amazing to see the riding community reach out and support one of it's own. I wish Scott a speedy recovery and hope that my contribution can help in some way repay all that Hodge has done to help everyone else.
Karma has a way of coming back around, and in this case it's in the positive! I know Scott and his family have been amazed at what their friends have done, but we are all just amazed at Hodge and want to give back what we can. Thanks to Namrita for organizing the donation. Thank you Hodge, for all that you've done for me and everyone else. I haven't gotten to know you very well yet but I've heard enough from my friends. In the little time I've known you, you've treated me with the utmost respect and truly like we'd been friends for years, going out of your way to help me or just sharing laughs on the death bus at Snake. Heal fast my friend!!

The benefit ride went really well. Alot, of folks showed up and Hodge was very appreciative of all his friends. Hodge spoke to the crowd about starting a non for profit for those injured in the bike industry. I heard they raised something like $5k with the ride. The trail was in great shape and the weather could not have been better.
Sorry, no pics, I forgot the camera.
