More Sponsors for DSG and SSUSA

Last year Harpeth joined forces with Lynskey performance to offer up a custom frame to one lucky racer.
http://www.harpethbicycles.com/

Murfreesboro Outdoor and Bicycle is back for year two and will be sponsoring the Solo Amateur Class as well as adding a sweet frame to the mix. Last year MOAB brought an Ellsworth Moment Frame to the party. MOAB also has the four person amateur title to defend at DSG.
http://moabbikes.com/

REI is also back in the game for DSG. These fine folks came strong in year one with a Redline Monocog, a Fox Fork, and a full SRAM Groupo, etc. Look for an even bigger presence for year two.
http://www.rei.com/

Sun and Ski Sports is back! These folks gave away huge schwag including two Haro Mary's last year and are bringing the big guns out for year two. Sun and Ski will also be sponsoring the Duo Amateur Class. Rumor has it that Sun and Ski wrench Carl will be throwing down in the Solo Amateur SS class this year.
http://www.sunandski.com/

Lynskey Performance is back in the game for year two and will be offering up another fine custom Ti frame for another lucky racer. You can also expect to see Lynskey's own Jamie P. rocking the course aboard his extree fancy Ti 29'er.
http://lynskeyperformance.com/

New to DSG, but well know among the SE racing scene is Wood n' Wave Bicycles and Watersports. Look for lot's of orange at DSG 2.0 and expect some great schwag as WnW is coming strong to sponsor the 4 Person Amateur Class and bringing a frame to the party as well.
http://www.woodnwave.com/

The Biker's Choice is back for year two after hosting women's pro Rebecca Rusch (and world champ) last year. David Hardin and company are planning to offer up special prize for this year's throwdown (think frame or bike...) and will once again be offering support for Rebecca at DSG.
http://www.thebikerschoice.com/

Bicycles Etc. in Huntsville is coming to the big dance this year and bringing some really cool party favors. Stay tuned for details.
http://www.bicyclesetc.us/

Swiftwick Makers of MAGIC Socks will be back for year two and you can expect some fun stuff from Sharpie that make your dogs smile.
http://www.swiftwick.com/

New to the party, but certainly not unknown to North Georgia MTB'ers is Addictive Cycles. The one and only Hodge will be making an appearance at SSUSA and DSG and is planning on bringing along a set of his legendary custom wheels and an extra surprise for racers.
http://www.addictivecycles.com/

Charlotte, NC's own Blacksheep Cycles will also be back at DSG. Just like last year Ethan and the gang at Blacksheep are sponsoring all things Single Speed for DSG. Last year Ethan and Niner hooked up the winner of the solo amateur SS class with a new Niner One9 frame. Ethan brought along a pile oif other great stuff.
http://www.blacksheepcycles.com/

The team at Ergon is generously helping support the Sorba and Imba cause through their donation of grips to members that sign up for the race. A big thanks to Ergon USA for their help. Also, look for Mr. 24 himself as Jeff Kerkove will be in the house and maybe we can get him convinced to compete in a little SSUSA madness on Friday.
http://www.ergon-bike.com/

Mmmmm Beer...Yazoo Brewing will be back for DSG and you can expect the Beer Team to be in full effect as well. The rumor is that number of these crazies are competing in Trans Iowa (just a 350 mile unsupported race through the hills and dales of Iowa) the week before DSG, then partaking in both SSUSA and DSG. I'd like to say that I'm surprised at this, but really this is pretty typical for these folks. A big thanks to Linus at Yazoo. Support you local brewery.
http://www.yazoobrew.com/

For all of your lighting needs Princeton Tec will be back at DSG and with the 9AM to 9PM schedule for the 12hr race, the last lap will require both a tail and a head light. No fears though, Justin at Princeton Tec will be in attendance with lights for rent as well as some more great schwag. Last year Princeton Tec threw down a bunch of tail lights as well as some head lights and an uber high end head lamp set up to racers.
http://www.princetontec.com/

Hoss Technical Gear is back for year two! Karl is bringing another batch of Hoss gear including some of the most comfortable riding apparel you've ever slid into. These folks make great gear at great prices.
http://www.hossmtb.com/

That's all for now, but I'll post up as we've got a bunch more good stuff to come. BIG THANKS to our SPONSORS! These folks are why this event can happen and I'd encourage all to give them a look.

Thanks,

Grant

Time for a Sponsor Update

We've added a few more sponsers to the DSG and SSUSA Weekend. Please note that the list of bikes, frames, components and other blingy bike items is getting bigger. The best part: All you have to do is sign up for the race to have a chance to WIN this stuff!

Cahaba Cycles has 3 locations in Birmingham, AL and was a valued partner at DSG 1.0. This year they will be back and offering support to Team Gary Fisher. They will also be bringing a wide assortment of uber cool bike parts for raffle. We're talking the big stuff, fork, groupo, wheelset, etc.
http://cahabacycles.com/

Walz Caps is a two person operation out of California that hand crafts only the best cycling caps you can buy. Jen and her husband have long been the outfitters of choice for the Yazoo Beer Team and you've probably seen Walz lids on folks like J5, Chewieez, and Dan H. If she can make these mugs look acceptable, think what one of these fine looking caps could do for you!
http://www.walzcaps.com/

LH Thomson Company! You know the name and you know just how good their parts really are. Thomson sets the bar for quality bike components and they are stepping up huge for DSG and SSUSA with a pile of certificates for stems, seatposts, etc. Big Thanks to David Parrett at LH Thomson!
http://www.lhthomson.com/index.htm

If you are anything like me, then you are constantly looking for a way to get faster, or just feel better on the bike, or are even training for some big race or event. Whatever your goals, working on that motor is priority #1 and Lynda Wallenfels can help. Lynda is an expert cycling coach and former professional mountainbike racer with an impressive resume. Among her current clients are folks like Mr. 24 himself, Ergon athelete and all around fast guy Jeff Kerkove. Lynda and her pal Dave Harris (another scary fast guy) will be racing at DSG and Lynda is offering up certificates for her training plans. I'm currently using her 100 miler plan and I can tell you that it's good stuff.
http://www.lwcoaching.com/

If you were at last years event, then you probably remember the flying Tifosi party that took place at the end of the awards ceremony. Well, time to start practicing catching in a crowd of rabid people. Tifosi is back and you can expect more great optics to be airborne for participants at DSG.
http://tifosioptics.com/

If you take one look at the bikes parked at you local trailhead, you are very likely to see the more than a few rides equiped with Bontrager parts. There's a good reason for that, Bontrager parts are among the best on the market. Look for a wheelset or two and a few other blingy Bonty parts at DSG.
http://www.bontrager.com/en

OS Nutrition is back. These folks are a TN company that makes high performance fuel for that motor that powers your two wheeled good times. A big Thanks to Bill, Bob, and Jackie for generously contributing to DSG for year two.
http://www.oscycling.com/

If you like cycling jersey and have a fondness for the feel and performance that only a high end wool jersey can provide, then you owe it to yourself to check out Earth, Wind and Rider. These are the folks that outfit the Yazoo Beer Team and they will be sending some wooly goodness to SSUSA! Thanks to Bill and Chris at EWnR!
https://www.ewnr.com/site/index.asp

Vassago Cycles build amazing 29" steel and Ti mountainbikes and will be bringing it to DSG and SSUSA! If you are looking for a reference, among the Vassago Team are Eddie and Namrita O'dea...two sick fast racers that don't cut corners on their equipment.
A big Thanks to Chris at Vassago!
http://www.vassagocycles.com/

Another Thank You to our Sponsors! We'll have more to come in the next few days.

Grant

Just Added another fine Bike Shop!

Hot off the presses, I just learned that Huntsville's Trailhead, Inc. is going to be on hand at DSG and SSUSA. If that's not enough, they have committed to bring along a complete Specialized Mountainbike that will go to one unsuspecting racer.
http://trailheadinc.net/

Thanks Trailhead!

Thanks for giving me reading material for TransIowa, as I'm grinding away and get bored I can just read through that list of sponsors, by the time I finish reading, I should be about done with 350 miles!

Impressive work my friend.

More Sponsorship News!

OK, so I'm just a little fired up about the way DSG and SSUSA are shaping up in terms of sponsors. I wanted to share some details about a couple of the latest additions as well as some confirmed schwag that will be up for grabs at the big pow wow.

First, Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles is back at DSG and they're bringing the big guns. Ellsworth is offering up a Project Pink Epiphany Frame as a fund raiser for our charity, the American Cancer Society! Defending DSG Champion Monique "Pua" Sawicki will be on hand to hand over this amazing frame to one lucky winner at DSG during the awards ceremony. Anyone who makes a donation to the American Cancer Society at DSG will have a chance at this beauty. Thanks Tony and Paul at Ellsworth!
http://www.ellsworthbikes.com/ellsworth-think-pink.php

Next, Vassago Cycles as most of you know is going to be in the house as one of the title sponsors for SSUSA as well as a sponsor for DSG. They are offering three, yes three Vassago Jabberwocky frames for racers to win! One of these is going to be a custom pink powdercoated frame as an additional fund raiser for The American Cancer Society. Super fast Eddie and Namrita O'dea will be on hand to award the lucky winners. Thanks Kris at Vassago!
http://vassagocycles.com/jabberwocky.html

Next, David Hardin at The Biker's Choice is back to offer race support to Pro Racer and Defending World Champion Rebecca Rusch at DSG. To sweeten the pot, Dave is bringing a super nice Specialized hardtail to the big dance! Rebecca will give this frame away to one smiling new bike owner during the awards ceremony.
Thanks David!
http://www.thebikerschoice.com/

Next, Huntsville's Trailhead, Inc. is making the party this year and bringing along a big ole door prize in the form of a Specialized Epic FSR that will be awarded to one lucky winner at DSG. Rebecca's arms might be getting tired from handing out new bikes, but we'll call on her to give this one away also. Thanks Trailhead, Inc.
http://trailheadinc.net/index.cfm

Finally, we have a big announcement from Maverick Bikes! Dave at Maverick is looking to show their committment to trails and the fine work of Sorba / Imba members by offering up a complete Maverick for a lucky winner at DSG. Thanks Dave!
http://www.maverickbike.com/

There are more to announce, so stay tuned as we get the details squared away!

Thanks again to all our great sponsors.

Grant

I'm sure if I leave all my smelly underwear and socks behind I'll have room to take it back with me (IF, I were to win one). Sooo, no. Sorry, but I will be bringing some books for you. My wife's a 5th grade teacher and loves your program.

30 days and counting...

We're now in the final countdown to DSG - The Big Number 2! The 2008 DSG and SSUSA is 30 days away. Registration has more than doubled this year and we're looking forward to another great shindig on tap for the May 3rd weekend. If you know of anyone still on the fence about signing up, give 'em a shout - we're loaded for bear!

Don't Forget:
  • Pre-riding the course will open on Wednesday April 30
  • SSUSA starts at high noon Friday May 2nd - We'll finish before 4 PM
  • No pre-riding the course during SSUSA (12-4 PM)
  • All-you-can-eat pasta dinner for $10 per person will start on Friday at 5PM and run til 8PM
  • Klunkerz will be the twilight flick starting at 8 PM. Starring the one and only Gary Fisher
  • Blame it on the Fish will be the follow-up for the late night. It just gets bizarre from there.
  • Kiwanis pancake breakfast will start at 6 AM and run til 9AM on Saturday the 3rd
  • DSG 12 hour will kick off at 9 AM sharp
As a friendly reminder:
  • Pets are welcome but must be leashed
  • Water is on-site as well as Port-o-lets
  • Showering will be available a la garden hose so bring your enviro-friendly soap.
  • A camping fee of $5 per person will be collected at the gate to help cover the amenities on-site.

Talking

Just another addition to the swag that will be at the race. Outdoorzy will be giving out $250 in gift cards to our store to buy mtb gear and clothing, along with t-shirts and other swag.

Just stop by our booth and give us a shout to enter.

Sounds like this thing is turning into swagfest 2008.

Woot!

Night Ride Anyone?

On Saturday April 12 the Cotton Mill will be open to night riding as well as the usual daylight hours. So if you want to pedal in the day as well as the night, come on down!

Camping will be allowed if you so desire. Sorry, no fires. We'll save that for the first weekend in May.

The Cotton Mill will also be open Saturday and Sunday the 19-20th for pre-riding. Dawn to dusk only.

Test Ride and WIN!

Come by the MOAB tent on Fisher Alley and test ride a Gary Fisher Super Caliber or HiFi Pro. At the end of the day one lucky test rider will walk away with a HiFi Pro signed by Gary Fisher. Don't forget Friday after SSUSA will be the "Ride with Fish". This is a great opportunity to ride with one of the pioneers who started it all. Stay tuned for details.

Big THANKS to Mark at MOAB Will Stoffell at Fisher and of course The Fish himself!

If that's not enough for ya, our friends at REI have stepped up big. They will be providing support for The One and Only Tinker Juarez as well as offering up a complete Cannondale Rush 5 for one lucky participant at DSG!

Big THANKS to Bill and Chuck at REI!

Thanks,

Grant

Maverick Bikes Steps up to support IMBA / SORBA at SSUSA and Dirt, Sweat and Gears!

Maverick Bikes is showing their ongoing support for trail advocacy by offering up a complete Maverick Matic for silent auction at SSUSA and Dirt, Sweat and Gears 12hr. Race on the weekend of May 2nd - 3rd. One lucky bidder stands to walk away with an amazing new ride valued at over $4,000 with all proceeds going to support the trail advocacy efforts of The International Mountain Bike Association and The Southern Off-Road Bike Association (IMBA/SORBA).

The 2008 Maverick Matic is a super fast, lightweight cross country race bike that gives a rider five and a half inches of travel that provides fantastic traction and control and “climbs like a goat,” as one of our customers said. The bike will be matched with an SC32 fork also made by Maverick and all of that packaged with an XT level kit to make life fast.

“IMBA and SORBA represent extremely effective trail advocacy organizations that are critical to building the sport we love,” says Maverick Bikes Vice President David Wisenteiner. “Maverick Bikes sees Dirt, Sweat and Gears as the perfect event to support this cause while enjoying a great weekend of riding and racing.”

Bidding will start in the afternoon of during SSUSA on Friday May 2nd and end during the awards ceremony following Dirt, Sweat and Gears 12hr race on Saturday May 3rd.

Maverick Bikes was founded by suspension pioneer and Rockshox founder Paul Turner, Maverick has pursued the idea that a simpler design can achieve outstanding performance. If a company is not distracted by multiple suspension designs and multiple bike lines, they can concentrate on making the best, most efficient design possible. We have kept the company small and the production low on purpose. We are a different kind of bike company and that makes the bikes different which means they ride and climb like no other. Thanks,

Grant

How bout some wheels?

Late breaking news on the DSG schwag front! Industry Nine will be in the house for DSG. They are planning on bringing a set of their uber bling wheels to the Big #2 and these will be up for grabs to one lucky racer. You will have the option to take home a 26" or 29" wheelset, or opt for the full custom route if you choose (of course, additional charges may apply if you get really crazy). I've been lusting after a set of I9's for some time now...these folks craft amazing stuff.

Cross your fingers and take home $1K worth of the blingiest wheels on the market.

A big THANKS to jeff at I9!

As if I wasn't feeling bad enough about missing the race this year I have been reading all the new sponsors and schwag available. Can I just send in an entry fee for a chance to win or do I actually have to be there? I know a couple of Michiganders coming down that could surely take back an extra bike or two.

Good to see you at Cohutta. I hope your race weather is better.

Steve,

It was good to see you on course before you left me in the dust. Have a great season and plan on DSG next year. We'll take good care of your crew from MI and maybe we can get them to pass some schwag your way?
